Terms of Use

GardenLens Last updated: 25 July 2026

1. About these terms

These terms apply to your use of gardenlens.co.uk and any planting designs, plant recommendations, waitlist or related services we provide ("the Service").

By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. What GardenLens does

GardenLens provides garden design guidance: plant recommendations and planting plans generated from information you give us about your garden, your local conditions and your preferences.

GardenLens currently operates in the United Kingdom and our plant data is selected for UK growing conditions.

3. Important limits on our advice

Please read this section carefully.

Our designs are guidance, not a guarantee. Plant performance depends on many things we cannot see or control — your actual soil, drainage, aspect, microclimate, existing pests and diseases, weather, and how the plants are planted and cared for. We cannot guarantee that any plant will survive, thrive, or look a particular way.

Check before you plant. Our recommendations are a starting point. You are responsible for:

Plants and safety. Many common garden plants are toxic if eaten, or can irritate skin or eyes. Some have thorns or spines. Although we try to flag plants noted as toxic or hazardous and to exclude them when you tell us children or pets use the garden, you must check each plant yourself before purchase and planting, especially if children, pets, or anyone with allergies will use the space. If you suspect poisoning, contact a doctor or vet immediately, or call NHS 111.

Invasive and regulated plants. Some plants spread aggressively or are legally restricted in the UK. You are responsible for complying with the law where you live.

Not professional advice. GardenLens does not provide structural, arboricultural, drainage, legal or surveying advice. For trees near buildings, retaining structures, drainage works or anything structural, please consult a qualified professional.

4. Information you give us

You agree that the information you give us about your garden is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge. Our recommendations are only as good as the information they are based on.

If you tell us about children, pets or allergies, we use that to filter our recommendations — but see section 3: the final check is yours.

5. Waitlist and early access

Joining the waitlist does not guarantee access, a design, or any particular timescale. Early access features may change or be withdrawn.

6. Prices and payment

The Service is currently provided free of charge while in early access. If we introduce charges, we will tell you clearly before you pay anything.

When we do introduce charges: prices will be as shown at the time of purchase and include VAT where applicable. Plant prices shown in designs are estimates only — actual nursery prices vary by supplier, size and season, and are not a quote.

7. Your right to cancel

If you are a consumer buying a paid service online, you normally have 14 days to change your mind and receive a refund. If you ask us to start work within that period and we complete a bespoke design, your right to cancel may be lost or reduced. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

To cancel, email [email protected].

8. Our content and your content

Our content. The GardenLens name, logo, website, plant database, design rules and generated designs are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. You may use your own design for your own garden. You may not resell, republish or commercially redistribute our database or designs without our written permission.

Plant photographs. Images in the Service may be provided under open licences by third-party photographers and are credited accordingly.

Your content. You keep ownership of the photographs, scans and information you send us. You give us permission to use them to provide the Service and to improve GardenLens. If we ever want to use your garden photos publicly — for example in marketing or on social media — we will ask you first.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service, including by attempting to gain unauthorised access, scraping or bulk-extracting our plant database, disrupting the site, or uploading unlawful or harmful content.

10. Availability

We aim to keep the Service available but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend or withdraw features, particularly during early access.

11. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

Subject to that, and because our designs are guidance which you choose whether to act on:

If you are a consumer, you have legal rights which these terms do not affect.

12. Privacy

We handle your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service develops. The version published on this page at the time you use the Service is the version that applies.

14. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may bring proceedings in your own country.
